Robert L. Jones
Chairman

Roddy Jones’ professional achievements are diverse and exemplify hard work and service to the community. Mr. Jones, a native of Raleigh, NC, graduated from East Carolina University in 1958. Soon after graduation, he joined Davidson & Jones Construction Company. Mr. Jones’ work experience ranged from field training to management at all levels of the company. He was appointed President of Davidson & Jones, Inc. in 1973 and continued in that capacity until 1993.

Still a major player in the real estate development and construction community in North Carolina, Mr. Jones currently serves as Chairman of Davidson & Jones Hotel Corporation and Chairman of the Davidson and Jones Corporation. He was one of the founders of Highwoods Properties, Inc., a longtime Raleigh real estate development company that went public in 1994 and is traded on the NYSE (HIW). Mr. Jones has provided the vision and leadership for such diverse projects as office and industrial parks, shopping malls, strip centers and hotels. Mr. Jones continues to develop real estate projects both locally and regionally. (top)

 

Seby R. Jones
President

Seby R. (Russ) Jones is the President of Davidson and Jones Corporation, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a number of real estate entities. Russ presently serves as managing partner of Carolina Barriles, LLC, a mixed-use resort community in Los Cabos, Mexico where he is responsible for bringing the development opportunity to the start of the sales process. Russ’ superior management skills have enabled him to assemble a successful team of professionals to make the La Capilla/Rancho Buena Vista resort community one of the finest in Los Cabos.

Russ also served as managing partner of the highly successful Oaks at Winyah Bay, a coastal residential project in Georgetown, South Carolina.project that was done in conjunction with Source One.

Russ’ broad development experience includes being manager of DJ Residential, LLC, an aged-targeted home builder and developer. In addition, he works with Davidson & Jones Hotel Corporation (DJHC) in procuring management contracts for hotels and for finding new hotel opportunities. In 2004, a DJHC-managed hotel (The Sheraton Imperial) was named “Hotel of the Year” for the Southeast Airport market by Starwood. (top)

 

Ernie Jackson
Chief Financial Officer

Ernie Jackson recently joined Davidson and Jones Corporation as Chief Financial Officer in July 2006 after a 9 year career with Thomas, Judy, & Tucker, PA. Ernie brings a wealth of tax knowledge to DJ as he contributes in all facets of our various operations. He has been a critical asset in business corporate and tax planning for the current and future growth of Davidson and Jones.

Ernie is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro with a BS degree in Accounting.

Ernie and his wife of 13 years Kathy Jackson, have two wonderful daughters. (top)

 

Susan Easley
Chief Operations Officer

Susan Easley has been an integral part of the Davidson and Jones family of companies since she joined in 1979.  In her early days at DJ Construction she assisted Mr. Seby B. Jones and Mr. Robert L. Jones, principals of DJ Construction.  At this time Susan also worked with the accounting department, gaining valuable knowledge that carried her into the position of Vice President of Finance for Project Development.  During her tenure as VP from 1981-1985, Susan had a crucial hand in the development of North Raleigh Hilton, Sheraton-Greenville, several Triangle region office buildings, as well as helping facilitate the sale of Cary Towne Center, a mall built and owned by Davidson and Jones.

From 1985-1987 Susan handled Asset Management, Legal, and Tax Matters for the company, shortly thereafter taking a 8 year hiatus to raise her three daughters.  Throughout this hiatus, she still filled in when called upon by DJ in various capacities.
In 1995 Susan rejoined DJ handling all Property/Casualty insurance for DJ owned properties and began to handle the Employee Group Insurance Plan in 1996.

Since 2004, Susan has assisted DJ Corporation President Russ Jones in a variety of matters, most notably managing all of the Jones Family held assets and the Seby B. Jones Family Foundation.

Susan continues to help Russ in any number of capacities.  Given her long, well-diversified tenure at Davidson and Jones, it is safe to say that Mrs. Easley has been an integral part of the company’s continued success over the years. (top)

 

Harry Massey, Jr.
Vice President of Development

After graduating from NC State with a degree in industrial engineering, Harry went on to sell design/build for a commercial contractor for the next 13 years. Harry’s involvement with Davidson and Jones dates back to 1983 when he managed the development of Imperial Center, one of the cornerstone developments of the RTP. Harry served as Sr. VP of Davidson and Jones Development Company from 1988 to 1992, moving over to D& J construction company where he was V.P. of marketing until 1998.

Harry now oversees all new construction and remodeling projects for Davidson and Jones Corporation as well as the development of two new residential coastal communities in Myrtle Beach, SC & Georgetown, SC. Harry has been an integral part of Davidson and Jones’ success for many years. (top)

 

Jeff Michaels
Real Estate Project Development

Jeff Michaels came to Davidson and Jones in early 2006 to assist in the project development of our planned resort community in Los Cabos, Mexico. In addition to the Mexico project, Jeff assists President Russ Jones in evaluating new opportunities through detailed financial analysis and market evaluation.

Prior to joining Davidson and Jones, Jeff was part of a two-man team that grew a family golf course equipment business from $650,000 gross sales a year to $2 million gross sales a year, eventually selling the business outright to SubAir Systems. This experience gave Jeff a broad knowledge base in all aspects of business management enabling him to carry these skills forward at Davidson and Jones.

Jeff graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BSBA in Business Administration in December 2000. (top)

 

John Colby
Human Resources & Group Insurance

John Colby joined Davidson and Jones Corporation in June 2006 after an 18 year career as controller of Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation. John presently handles Davidson and Jones Corporations’ Human Resources and Group Insurance Policy work. Prior to joining DJ Hotel Corporation in 1988 John had served as controller for a number of Boston, MA area hotels dating back to 1976. John graduated from Boston University in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. (top)

 

Charles Moore
Project Director

Charles Moore joined Davidson and Jones Corporation in November 2006 to head up the development of the company’s La Capilla and Rancho Buena Vista resort projects in Los Cabos, Mexico after spending 28 years at P& D Consultants in San Diego, CA. Mr. Moore brings to Davidson and Jones over 30 years of experience in the design and management of major recognized projects which involve civil engineering and planning disciplines. These projects include large-scale master plans, resort/golf course projects, hotel development as well as urban infill and mixed/regional commercial projects. His extensive U.S. and international experience and the knowledge in comprehensive management of multidisciplinary services provides the necessary skills for innovative and successful projects. Mr. Moore has directed dozens of projects across the globe. A small sampling of his project experience includes El Dorado Resort/Golf Course, San Jose del Cabo, B.C.S. Mexico; Estero Beach Resort, Ensenda, B.N. Mexico; Aviara Residential Golf Resort, Carlsbad, CA; and Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego, CA. just to name a few. (top)

 

Gayle W. Jones
Executive Assistant

Gayle rejoined the Davidson and Jones team in 2003 after taking some time off to spend with her teenager children and later working with Wendy’s International for ten years as Executive Assistant to the DVP and Marketing Director. Gayle’s work experience ranges from banking, state government where she served as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary of Revenue, Howard Coble, and as mentioned earlier, Wendy’s International.

Gayle now serves as assistant to Roddy Jones, Chairman of affiliated Davidson and Jones companies, where she maintains accounting of his various companies, and other projects where Roddy is involved, along with interacting with all other organizations and boards in which Roddy serves. She is also part of the Davidson and Jones Corporation team where she shares in many of the day to day operations.    

In addition, Gayle is very active in community and civic organizations, serving on various committees. She is a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she serves as a Sunday school teacher, an Awana Team worker, and an active member of the Ladies Fellowship Group.

Gayle is married to Craig Jones and they reside at McGee’s Crossroads located in Johnston County. They have 2 wonderful children, DeEtta and Forrest and three grandchildren, Justin, Mary Elaine and Ava, which also reside in Johnston County. Gayle favorite past-time is spending time with family and friends. (top)
