Robert L. Jones
Chairman, Davidson and Jones Corporation

Roddy Jones’ professional achievements are diverse and exemplify hard work and service to the community. Mr. Jones, a native of Raleigh, NC, graduated from East Carolina University in 1958. Soon after graduation, he joined Davidson & Jones Construction Company. Mr. Jones’ work experience ranged from field training to management at all levels of the company. He was appointed President of Davidson & Jones, Inc. in 1973 and continued in that capacity until 1993.

Still a major player in the real estate development and construction community in North Carolina, Mr. Jones currently serves as Chairman of Davidson & Jones Hotel Corporation and Chairman of the Davidson and Jones Corporation. He was one of the founders of Highwoods Properties, Inc., a longtime Raleigh real estate development company that went public in 1994 and is traded on the NYSE (HIW). Mr. Jones has provided the vision and leadership for such diverse projects as office and industrial parks, shopping malls, strip centers and hotels. Mr. Jones continues to develop real estate projects both locally and regionally. (top)

Jay A. Mahan

President, Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation

Jay Mahan has accumulated extensive knowledge in hotel management and development over the past 34 years. Early in his career, Mr. Mahan served as general manager of the 431 room Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. In 1980, he was named Sheraton’s Franchise General Manager of the Year.

Other experience includes vice-president of operations for Arltec, Inc., in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a Sheraton franchisee with four hotels and 1238 rooms in the Washington, DC area; director of operations for P&S Management, a Holiday Inn franchisee with 11 hotels and 2,100 rooms in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio; and vice-president of operations for Petlin Hotels with management responsibility for eight hotels including Quality Inns, Best Westerns and Comfort Inns located in Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Employed by Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation since 1985, Mr. Mahan became its President, Chief Executive Officer and part owner in 1995.  Mr. Mahan is past president and a founding member of the Association of Sheraton Franchisees of North America (ASFONA) and continues to serve on the ASFONA board as an ex-officio member. He is a former member of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Inc.’s Owners Advisory Council, a group that meets regularly with senior Starwood management and leadership.  After graduation from West Virginia University, he attended the University of Toledo Law School.  Mr. Mahan is a former member of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau board of directors and served as its chairman from 2001 until 2003.  He is a former member of the board of directors of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and remains active in many civic associations.(top)

Mark Striebel

Mark Striebel is the current and past President of Davidson and Jones Construction Company.  His original term as President was in the early 1990s and he successfully directed the company during the ultimate sale of the business to Beers Construction and then utlimately to Skanska. In 2007, Mark and Robert Davidson Jones re-formed the construction company and today are focused on middle market construction projects.(top)
